Indelible Urges
Typical Male Moments From
Musicals

Few vehicles have better
expressed the glorious highs, pathetic lows, and humorous
idiosyncrasies of the male persona than the classic
American musical theater. In this program beautiful love
songs will be juxtaposed with hilarious patter songs...
each one pinned to descriptive male characteristics
ranging from boastful self-confidence, to capricious love,
to eternal fidelity, to disdain, to delusion, to inner
monologue, and even OCD.
Wow! What could be more
fun!?
Selections are culled
from the favorite classic musicals including Camelot,
Brigadoon, The Pajama Game, Man of La Mancha, Finian's
Rainbow, The Most Happy Fella, Kiss Me Kate, On the Town,
and more. Think of this concert as a one-man musical
titled "The Happy Man of Finiadoonelot's Pajama Jester"...
or something like that.
A musical evening as
random as this (and yet somehow cohesive) smacks of being
the brainchild of baritone Michael Costantino... which
would be true. Long known in the area as a Johannes
Factotum, Costantino will bring his signature wit, musical
sophistication, and powerful baritone to bear on the
evening's songs and facial expressions.
It would be hard to think
of a better foil for this program than accompanist Ted
Simons. Ted's extraordinary experience in musical theater
is duly complemented by his cunning and contemporaneous
accompanying prowess... you never know what you're going
to hear next! Expect the unexpected, 'cause you'll see it
in this concert.
Regards, Mike C.
