There's nothing like sitting down with a blank piece of notation paper on the music stand.
I've never found the computer the right place to start my compositions or arrangements. Instead, some chord progressions and some metrical relationships are the departure point. I'll return to the computer and synths and sound modules as the piece matures and nears either notation or rehearsal.
