Papageno is the bird-catcher character from Mozart's opera "Die Zauberflöte."
Philosophically, there's a world of difference between Tamino and Papageno, but not substantively. Papageno's high ideals are the reality of finding the right wife and having fun during one's life. His music is fun to sing, easy to whistle and full of happiness and life-threatening despair. He is aware of his shortcomings. I've been very successful with this role on stage as well as in life. Be well.
